The Untertorbrücke

Reaching across the River Aare, "The Untertorbrücke" is the oldest bridge in Bern, Switzerland. Completed in 1489, this granite clad, sandstone core structure replaced an earlier wooden bridge that served from 1256. In the background is "The Nydeggbrücke", (1840), featuring the widest stone arch in Europe. Part of the famous Bern Bear Park can be seen through this span.
